# Installation

## npm (All Platforms)

```bash
npm install -g logicoal
```

Works on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Self-contained binary — no dependencies.

## Homebrew (macOS & Linux)

```bash
brew install coals-ai/tap/logicoal
```

## Platform Installers

### macOS

Download the signed and notarized `.pkg` from [logicoal.ai](/#install) and run it. Supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

### Windows

Download the installer from [logicoal.ai](/#install). Supports Windows 10 and later.

### Linux

**.deb (Debian / Ubuntu)**

Download the `.deb` package for your architecture from [logicoal.ai](/#install), then:

```bash
sudo dpkg -i logicoal_*.deb
```

**.tar.gz (Portable)**

Download the tarball for your architecture, extract, and move to your PATH:

```bash
tar xzf logicoal-*-linux-x64.tar.gz
sudo mv logicoal-linux-x64 /usr/local/bin/logicoal
```

## Verify Installation

After installing, verify it's working:

```bash
logicoal --version
```

## First Launch

Run `logicoal` to start. On first launch you'll be prompted to sign up or log in — see [Getting Started](/content/docs/getting-started/index.html) for a full walkthrough.

## Updating

- **npm** — `npm update -g logicoal`
- **Homebrew** — `brew upgrade logicoal`
- **Installer** — Download the latest version from [logicoal.ai](/#install) and run it again
- **Built-in** — LogiCoal checks for updates on launch and will prompt you when a new version is available
